More training and advice is coming your way!

I’m delighted to formally introduce all four Asking Matters Experts to you. Over the last few months I’ve been building a team of people whose talents I really respect. They each run a successful consulting business of their own, and their skill sets complement mine. They’ve got a tremendous amount of important experience and perspective to bring to you and the entire fundraising community, and each of them will be blogging, creating material, and leading webinars during the year.

Welcome Michael, Andrea, Sue, and Joe!

Michael Davidson (Go-Getter)

about-bio-mikeMichael’s been working with non-profits for decades, helping them on the thorny issue of board governance. He runs a highly-successful board program for United Way in NYC, consults with dozens of organizations, and has a unique understanding of what makes for a great board. Michael and I met more than 15 years ago when he did work for Hudson Guild while I was deputy executive director there, and we’ve worked together over the years to lead joint governance and fundraising trainings with boards.

Andrea Kihlstedt (Go-Getter)

andrea-kihlstedtAndrea wrote the book (literally) on capital campaigns. We first met 14 years ago when I was the deputy executive director at Hudson Guild in NYC and hired her to consult on a capital campaign. I had run a few campaigns by then, but what I learned from Andrea was incalculable. Fast forward to 2009, and we joined forces to start Asking Matters – such a proud accomplishment for us both. By the way, that makes Andrea the first Go-Getter ever! Andrea has since moved on to create another company, Capital Campaign Masters, and is back at Asking Matters to share everything she knows about campaigns.

Sue Kindred (Kindred Spirit)

SK-Headshot-Web squareI only met Sue last spring but there was immediate chemistry. I’m sure the fact that her last name is Kindred AND she’s a fellow Kindred Spirit had something to do with it! Sue understands the challenge of telling a strong story – it’s in her DNA in a way it will just never be for me – and she’s used that talent to help countless organizations over a long career. Last year, Sue launched the successful Alchemy of Storytelling Conference in Richmond, VA (if you’re within 200 miles it’s a must attend for next spring!).

Joe Tumolo (Go-Getter)

Joe Tumolo HeadshotJoe had been a huge fan of Asking Matters for years when he reached out to Andrea and me in 2013 wanting to work with us. As an experienced trainer in the non-profit world, he loved the idea of the Asking Styles and wanted to learn how to train using them. He also has tons of experience in planned giving – an important, but often ignored, part of our field. Fast forward to 2016 and he’s led Asking Matters trainings on his own, we’ve co-facilitated a training where I learned a ton from him, and we’ve now developed a full-day training for experienced fundraisers (more on this in the coming weeks!).
